Job title: Reporting Analyst

PayPal Internal Controls team is looking for a talented, creative, and passionate developer to design and develop data solutions on one of the largest data platforms in the world. The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for providing reporting and analytical support for PayPal Enterprise Services. This role requires effective communication, analytical skills and familiarity with reporting systems.

Job Description:

Core Duties:

o    Work with extremely talented peers in a fun environment building performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable solutions spanning multiple technologies and platforms – Hadoop, HBase, Teradata, Oracle, Terracotta Server Array (in-memory data management), SAS, Tableau, Microstrategy, Informtica, Golden gate, Kafka etc.

o    Create SQL queries to troubleshoot, develop metrics and create ad-hoc reporting as needed; data systems competence is expected, specifically Teradata, Tableau, and MSSQL

o    Identify potential solutions, shortlist and compare them. Finalize the solution by collaboration with business.

o    Create design documents that describe the functionality, capacity, architecture, and process.

o    Develop, test and implement data solutions based on finalized design documents.

o    Analyze and understand core business processes and data flows to design and develop BI solutions that are scalable, repeatable and effective

o    Assist internal customers with acceptance testing and adoption

o    Ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported and resolved in a timely manner

o    Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned

Prerequisite Knowledge and Proficiencies:

o    Strong understanding of database principles, SQL, and experience working with large databases beyond just data access

o    Experience in working with batch processing/ real-time systems using various open source technologies like Solr, Hadoop, NoSQL, Spark, Pig, Hive, etc.

o    Implemented complex projects dealing with the considerable data size (PB).

o    Good understanding of algorithms, data structure, and performance

Optimization techniques (performance, scalability, monitoring, etc.)

o    Strong understanding of database principles, SQL, and experience working with large databases beyond just data access

o    Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently to manage multiple projects and deadlines

o    Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate with several stakeholders

o    Experience with version control systems, particularly GIT

o    Strong analytical and problem solving skills

o    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with Intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Visio, Word, PowerPoint).

Experience:

o    2+ year of progressive experience in data analysis and reporting; strong mathematical skills required

o    Experience manipulating large amounts of data for analytical projects
